Foundation Work: Drawing II

Fish and Bird
A conceptual piece involving many stages of process. To start, our class went to the Ruthven Museum of Natural History to sketch the specimens in their collections. Later we scanned, edited, and re-printed the sketches; took rubbings of various textures within the room; and explored conceptual and material processes. My finished piece consists of watercolor and collage, and addresses the way bird and fish are distantly related through juxtaposition of color, composition, and imagrey.
Sleep through Time
A piece addressing the progression of time. Instead of a sequence of images, I chose to work with one static image. To present an idea of change over time, I placed small moons at various stages in their cycles among the hair of my figure.
